I woke up and thought I wanted to end the year with a run. Even if I only did a mile I'd be happy because technically I'm still dealing with an IT Band strain. So I hopped on the treadmill and ran 1.33 miles with no pain! Then I did what most runners would do: I stretched and adjusted my strap and ran some more. Although after a minute or so I started having pain under my knee! Runners knee?! I was determined to see 3 miles on the display so I got my husband's runners knee strap, put it on and what do ya know? No pain.
So I kept running til I saw 3 miles.
(Later I was in a lot of pain and my husband told me the treadmill is slow so I really did over 3) well that could explain all the pain in my IT band and knee the rest of the day, but you better believe I was floating on a runner's high the rest of the day too.
My mother in law took me and the kids to Trader Joe's. It is now my favorite store. I bought all kinds of healthy stuff and spent less than 50 bucks!
After putting away the groceries I made a turkey wrap and had some delicious black seedless grapes for lunch. Oh and I iced my leg.. :-/
In case you were wondering, here's what I made for dinner. Beef and broccoli. Its fairly simple to make and tastes great!
While at Trader Joe's my daughter spotted these cookies. They're so addicting and are low in fat and sugar! They also have no preservatives! Oh and they were only a couple bucks. I'd say it's a win for everyone.
I guess these little cookies weren't enough for us. Or maybe it was the fun of bringing in a new year that made us want to bake cookies.
We made Hot chocolate cookies! These are so good! But definitely not low in fat or sugar! It's ok to splurge every now and then. Or once a day. ;-)
My little helper.
I hope everyone had a great last day of the year!
Oh yeah, I got the recipe for the cookies from Stephanie at CatLadyRuns.com. I'm using my phone to post so I can't create a link.
Looking forward to a whole new year of running, blogging, and living life to its fullest!
IT bands are the worst. I haven't run in months now, and it's eating me alive. I'm afraid that when I can get back out there, I won't even be able to go a mile without huffing and puffing. Oh well. C'est la vie, I guess. So glad that you got in a run, even if it was a short one! Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteI think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you do go out for a run. Our bodies are pretty amazing. :-) if you don't mind me asking, why have you been out of running for so long?
DeleteI hope your leg feels better. IT problems are the worst! You trader joes trip looks amazing! I wish we had stores close here but in my small town theres not a whole lot of great organic stores like that. My bf lives works in the city though and is right now the street from one! So do you plan on any more kids Fawn?
ReplyDeleteWe aren't planning on having any more. I'm thinking about going back to work as a dental assistant when our daughter goes to kindergarten in August. I had a tubal ligation about 4 years ago so if it happens it must be Gods will. :-)
ReplyDeleteYay you made them! Did they turn out well for you guys? Also, I LOVE those Trader Joe's cookies! They are so tasty and I love the cat shapes (obvs!)
ReplyDeleteThe cookies were a winner in our house. My husband said more mini chocolate chips and no marshmallows next time.
DeleteOur cat cookies are gone already :-( next time I want to try the vanilla and gingerbread.
