Party Prep and Go Fish

Today is little Miss. Kate's 5th birthday party. Her actual day of birth is the 14th. I did pretty much all of the prep work yesterday and I'm so glad I did because I was fighting off some sort of bug, took lots of vit c but still woke up this morning feeling like I got ran over by a dump truck. (I just mastered the run on sentence)

Here are a few pictures from yesterday's work.
Red velvet cupcakes and a mini cake since I don't think five candles will fit on one cupcake. (Duncan Hines red velvet cake mixes are the best boxed mixes.)
 Kate thinks so too.
Our house was so warm and smelled so good.
When I make a veggie tray I like to cut up all the veggies myself. I refuse to eat baby carrots because they are soaked in some kind of chlorine. Don't believe me? Let some of those babies sit out on the counter for a few hours and watch them turn white. Real carrots don't turn white. Google explains it better.
Sure this way is more work but at least I know what I'm eating and giving to others.
Oh yeah, did I mention it's a princess party? It's funny because when she was born we said no princess stuff. Well she turned into a princess, that's for sure. And most princesses aren't perfect little angels, I'll say that much. I'd consider her more of a diva, but I really don't want to encourage that.

She ended up going to stay the night with her g ma so that I can set up without her wanting to get into everything.
It was just us and the boy so we grabbed some burgers (I got a chicken sandwich, just fyi) then we played some good ole "go fish". I lost. Miserably.
Ginger likes to play games too.
She was very distracting. I think that's why i lost.

Have an awesome Saturday everyone!
By the end of today I'm sure I'll want a hot bath and my pj's. If you don't hear from me in a day or two then that means this bug got the best of me.

What are you doing this weekend?
Anyone racing?
What's your favorite fast food chicken sandwich?  Mine is a cheap one from Wendy's. :-)

  1. Kate looks so happy with that batter! Great photo :). And thank you for the information about the baby carrots. I hadn't heard about the chlorine before :(. I'm going to stay away from them going forward.
