Garden update and a smoothie recipe

Hello there! How's your weekend going?
We've just been hanging out at home getting some yard work done and some much needed house cleaning done.

I also picked some weeds in the garden but gave up because I was out numbered.
Our garden is growing like crazy! Here are some photos from today:

This mammoth sunflower is almost ready to bloom!
 Watermelon

 Bell peppers

 Spaghetti squash

Strawberries

Cantaloupe
We also have cherry tomatoes, early girl tomatoes, green beans, pea snaps, broccoli, jalpenos, corn and lots of zucchini! We've had so much zucchini we've been sharing with everyone. That's one thing I love about gardening is sharing veggies.

I woke up feeling lazy and sluggish but I managed to do round two of Jillian's Killer Buns n Thighs. I also did some low and high planks just for fun. Haha right..fun.. Michael didn't know what a plank was so I showed him. Then he showed me up by quitting after 2 minutes and 15 seconds. He's never done planks before so I was surprised he held it for that long! He said he could've held it even longer..

I've been seeing all kinds of delicious looking smoothies all over blog world so I decided to whip up one of my own today. It was just what I needed! I'm actually looking forward to having another one tomorrow. Here's what I made:

I don't have a name for it but it still tasted great!
I used a food processor because I threw out our blender when we moved.

Ingredients:
About 1 1/4 cup frozen strawberries, 1 frozen banana, splash of milk and a tablespoon of crunchy peanut butter.

I would've used almond butter but I ran out the other day. I also forgot I wanted to use some honey Greek yogurt I just bought but there's always tomorrow. :-)

Blend/process until smooth and enjoy!

This was so easy and delicious! My kids would even like it!

My husband finally got my bike seat down! I rode around the back yard for a few minutes and let me just say...ouch! That seat has got to go! Or I can get a seat cushion.. anything would be better than that thing!

Duathlon training, here I come!

Well it's almost bed time for this old lady so I'll catch you all tomorrow! Have a good night!

Don't forget to check out the blog hop giveaway! It's going on now until June 29th.

Also for those of you who wanted to see pics from our camping trip, click here.

What's the strangest thing you've had in a smoothie? I'd say wheat grass! My husband thinks I'm crazy for putting peanut butter in the mix today.

  1. Wow your garden really is doing great! Your much further along than I am, although I finally have pee's on my plants YAY. Oddly my pea plants grew 4 feet tall this year, I've ever had that happen before, hopefully this means lots more peas:) I also noticed some tomato's starting, and I picked all my green onions the other day. But the rest still has a long way to go:)
Your sunflower plant is looking awesome, gonna be a beautiful flower!!!!

    1. Wow those are some tall pea plants! My pea snap plants are pretty short but produce a good amount. They're so good in stir fry's! Although, they're starting to shrivel up a little..must be the heat.
I can't wait to see the mammoth sunflower when it blooms! It's amazing how it follows the sun throughout the day! It faces the east in the morning and goes all the way over and ends up facing the west in the evening!

  2. I planted so late, I'm still waiting for my peppers and tomatoes. Yours look great! I just bought ingredients to make smoothies yesterday. I haven't been able to eat a lot or wanted and I know I need nutrients so I'm going to have to try out your recipe! I got berries, bananas, and kale.

    1. Ooh kale! I love kale in smoothies! I really like green drinks! Our bell peppers are outgrowing the plants! We had to put stakes in the ground to help keep the plants up! Gardening is a learning process but I love it so much!

    1. haha thanks! My husband and I make a good team. I actually don't mind pulling weeds. It's a great stress reliever. My husband is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to agriculture. Google helps a lot too ;-)
